A first for broadcast television: Instant synthetic replays of baseball data at HD1080 and 60p.
We were tasked by MLBAM’s CTO to evolve a webGL prototype of Stat Cast “experiments” into a broadcast quality product showing simulated play-by-play action. Defining scope, prototyping, and building a team of artists and engineers in an incredibly short period of time, we were able to hit our deadline early and create a never before seen experience.

We built highly detailed digital grass and stadium dirt that changes based on wetness and level of distress.
We also defined a new visual language for Stat Cast "player chips" that abstract the players down to their bare minimum while focusing on the data.
On the technology side, we integrated Statcast player and ball data into the product and created a front end that MLB Network producers use to choose camera angles, focus, and what stat overlays to show when. All done interactively and automated as much as possible.
