A FIRST OF ITS KIND

We partnered with Google to make our award-winning Home Run Derby mobile game a Daydream VR launch product. This was a pretty interesting opportunity because the platform was brand new and we were forced to innovate and design novel interactions from scratch. We boot strapped the internal VR group at MLB, so this was an opportunity with new technology that we couldn’t refuse.

We made tons  of assumptions and  lots of mistakes about what would and wouldn’t work.

We learned early on that performance trumps pretty much all other considerations and that spatial UI is much better for immersive environments. Literally seeing the UI surrounding the viewer was a totally new way to experience the game.

We wanted  a polished front end with  a modern sports motion aesthetic.

In order to achieve this, we partnered with the fantastic motion director David Mayzis who helped create designs that knocked it out of the park.
