We wanted a treatment that felt right for the franchise and with a compelling design style.
This project built off an established visual language with the caveat that we wanted to showcase our improved ingame character models, head scans, and animations.
After establishing high-level direction and styleframes, we moved to prototypes and proofs of concepts.
The biggest issue we faced was developing a pipeline for capturing ingame character assets from Unity that were matched to predefined 3d camera animation in Maya. The goal here was a seamless integration of our game characters with motion designed environments developed by our team.
Capturing character animation at 300 frames a second led to some amazingly beautiful shots.
On the audio side, we weaved live action MLB Network calls with backing audio from Pigeon John overlaid with EFX.
